Over the last few years, progress in the field of cardiovascular disease has been truly remarkable. However, cardiovascular disease still causes nearly half of all deaths in Europe (49%) and in the EU (42%). In fact, Coronary heart disease remains the leading cause of mortality in men over 45 years, and in women over 65 years throughout Europe. The European Society of Cardiology (ESC), representing 59,000 cardiology professionals across Europe and the Mediterranean, has determined that the prevention of cardiovascular disease will be the highlight of this year’s annual congress. The congress will take place between the 27th and 31st August in Paris, with the Treatment Strategies – Cardiology coming out shortly afterwards.
